Chemical peels range from the very mild to the intense, but they all work the same way: they exfoliate away the outer few layers of the skin to allow brighter, healthy new skin to surface. At Derma-Tech we offer a variety of chemical peels in different intensities to help achieve your skincare goals.
What Does a Chemical Peel Do?
A chemical peel works by loosening dead outer layers of skin cells and exfoliating them away. Removing the peel reveals more even-toned and brighter skin. Chemical peels come in intensities ranging from mild to deep, depending on how many layers of skin the peel will resurface. The deeper the peel, the more noticeable the results, but deep peels also require more downtime.
Our peels include the gentle Illuminize peel to refresh and rejuvenate the skin, the intensive Vitalize peel to diminish sun damage, and the more intensive Rejuvenize peel that addresses signs of aging, acne scarring, and other deeper skin issues.
What Can a Chemical Peel Treat?
Depending on the depth of the peel, chemical peels can improve a wide variety of skin conditions, including:
- Hyperpigmentation
- Uneven skin tone
- Melasma
- Acne scarring
- Lines and wrinkles
- Sun damage
- Signs of aging
In most cases, peels need to be repeated on a regular basis to maintain results, although with some peels results will continue to improve with each session. You can get light peels as often as every few weeks but more intensive peels may be spaced months apart.
How Much Does a Chemical Peel Cost?
At Derma-Tech, our peels range in price from $85-$250. You may also consider adding another type of treatment during your visit. Ask during your consultation about ways to enhance the effectiveness of your chemical peel.
Chemical Peel Results and Recovery
Results immediately after a peel and in the following weeks depend on the strength of the peel. For a mild peel, a person might notice some mild redness and dryness or nothing at all, and more energized, clearer-looking skin will be visible within a day or two. For more intensive peels, the skin may become red and tight, which can last for several days before the skin flakes and peels. Very intense peels can leave redness that lasts for several weeks.
Who is a Candidate for a Chemical Peel?
We offer peels gentle enough for almost anyone, including people who have never had a chemical peel before and may feel nervous about trying one. You may be a good candidate if you want brighter, more radiant skin and diminished signs of sun damage and aging. If you are pregnant, have a history of developing thick scars (keloids), or have been taking certain acne medications, you may not be a good candidate.
